Patricia Reed

Born near Philadelphia, Pa. Patricia has been a resident of the Tri- State Area (WV, OH, KY) for many years. She earned a BFA in 1995 and a MA in 1997 from Marshall University, and now teaches painting successfully and correctly in oil or acrylic, according to easy to learn methods in the classical style. Her students learn about the complexities of color, value and intensity and how to mix colors using the color wheel. They also study the importance of composition and design in a painting to name just a few topics covered in a typical painting class. Patricia's students love her classes, and many return often, and continue the learning process. The Painted Palette Art Studio, is located in Huntington, WV at 824 Tenth Street, Huntington, WV . Patricia also teaches Introduction to Oil Painting, for Mount West Community College and Art Appreciation and drawing at the ITT Technical Institute.

Patricia has exhibited her paintings in the WV Juried Exhibition in Charleston, WV, Exhibition 280, Huntington Museum of Art, Huntington, WV, Parkersburg Art Center, Parkersburg, WV, Allied Artists of WV and Shawnee State University, Portsmouth, Ohio to name just a few. She has received many awards as well as commercial and private commissions. Her work consists of portrait commissions, landscapes, still life and the Water Garden series.

Patricia was one of six artists, by invitation to exhibit her paintings in the Four Seasons of Art Exhibition sponsored by the National Bank of Commerce, Charleston, WV. Two artists were selected from West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio. More recently she received First Place in oil painting in Jackson, Ohio with one of the paintings from her Water Garden Series.

Patricia's paintings have been in juried exhibitions throughout West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio and exhibited in the Vorpal Gallery in San Francisco, California. Her work has received awards in watercolor, mixed media and oil. Her paintings are in private collections throughout the United States, and Europe.
